Unsent Texts

I type out thoughts that never fly,
Words that linger in my sky.
I see your name and hesitate,
For time and distance hold their weight.

“I miss the way we used to laugh,”
But it’s too soon, or too far past.
“I saw a sunset you’d have loved,”
But silence fits us more than words.

A meme that makes me think of you,
A random joke, some news, or two.
The impulse fades before I press,
Because we both deserve the rest.

I wonder if you do the same,
Drafts that live without a name.
And though we’re quiet, lost in time,
You still drift through this heart of mine.

Some ones I never sent……

– “Remember that one time at the café? Where I thought you were going to drag the barista across the table? :D”

– “Saw someone with your laugh on the train… and for a second, I forgot where I was.”

– “It’s raining like that day when I got soaked on that first date”

– “I miss our late-night talks, but I guess some things are better left unsaid.”
